Strategies On How To Stay Motivated
5 Motivation Mistakes You Could Be Making Right Now
Here are some strategies on how to stay motivated. In order to reach your goals, motivation is crucial. However, finding the right motivation to press on and achieve your goals can prove extremely challenging.
On your quest to find motivation, you could end up making all kinds of mistakes. Here, you’ll discover just 5 motivation mistakes you could be making right now.
1.) You’ve Set Unrealistic Goals
Nothing kills motivation quite like unrealistic goals. You see, if your goals are unrealistic, you’re not going to be able to achieve them. You won’t even see any real progression towards getting where you want to be.
If you don’t see positive changes, you’re not going to be able to maintain motivation. Smaller, more realistic goals will help you to boost your motivation, helping you stay on track.
2.) Not Celebrating Your Accomplishments
While it’s good to have goals to work towards, it’s also important to celebrate when you achieve them.
Many people get into the mindset where as soon as they achieve something, they automatically move on to the next thing. However, when you do that you’re not really recognizing or celebrating how far you’ve come.
Recognition of your achievements really helps to keep your motivation going.
3.) You Let The Past Hold You Back
Our past is important, but it shouldn’t be so important that it holds you back from the present. If you find yourself constantly stuck in the past, you’re going to find it hard to motivate yourself for the future.
By all means, let your past be a motivator to achieve more, but don’t let it hold you back. Take chances, even if something hasn’t worked out in the past.
Whenever you feel your past attacking your motivation, remind yourself that you’re not in the past anymore. This is your present and your future and the past has no power over either of them.
4.) You Wait for Motivation
Motivation isn’t going to magically just come to you. While you will reach points in your life which will motivate you to make a change, largely you need to actively work on it.
Identify what it is that motivates you and then do it. A large part of the motivation is discipline. So, be strict with yourself in the times you feel your motivation starting to reduce.
5.) You Procrastinate
One of the biggest motivation mistakes you can make is procrastinating. Thanks to technology, it’s easy to become distracted from our goals. There’s always something else that commands our attention.
The trouble is, procrastination literally kills motivation. So, if you find you waste a lot of time doing unnecessary things, aim to become more focused and your motivation will thank you.
These are just 5 mistakes you could be making to hinder your motivation. Changing any of the habits above can be challenging. However, with perseverance, it is possible to overcome these mistakes and keep your motivation topped up.
How to Successfully Maintain Motivation
Gaining motivation is often a lot easier than maintaining it. In fact, the main reason people fail to meet their goals is that they lose their motivation.
So, how exactly can you maintain motivation? Below you’ll discover some of the best tips you can follow to stay consistently motivated.
Say positive words to yourself each day. Have some affirmations that you say to yourself morning and evening. The more you speak positive things into your life, the more you will see positive things happening for you.
Limit All Distractions
You already know that procrastination is detrimental to motivation. So, if you’re looking to maintain your motivation, you’re going to need to limit all distractions.
This includes limiting your time on social media, browsing websites or even using your phone. Whatever tends to distract you, set limits on when you can use them. You’ll be surprised how much of a difference this can make.
exercise will lift your mood and get your blood pumping through your body. Whenever you exercise you feel like you have really accomplished something special because most persons do not exercise because they just cannot get motivated. Exercise will also make you a happier person.
Exercise to stimulate, not to annihilate. The world wasn’t formed in a day, and neither were we. Set small goals and build upon them. Lee Harvey
I am fearful at times about going into the unknown but I am learning to deal with my fears. If what I am doing makes me a little uncomfortable then I know I am overcoming my fears one step at a time.
However, begin to try at least one thing you are afraid of each week. Start with the small fears and then it will be easier to move on to the big things you fear. I will not tell you what is big or small because only you know how fearful you are of something.
For example, a big thing for me is public speaking, but I still do it even though I am shaking like a leaf. Your big fear might me lizards, and public speaking is very easy for you.
But whatever your fears are, you can overcome, the only way to overcome is to do it over and over again. Take baby steps.
If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. Dale Carnegie
Motivational Books And Podcast
Read some motivational books like the bible( I know some times the bible is hard to read), Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins or The Power of Positive Thinking by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. There are lots of motivational books out there to choose one.
Now when it comes to a podcast, I like to listen to Brendon Burchard and Terri Savelle Foy. There are lots of them out there, find one you like and listen to it every day. What I like best about a podcast is that I can be doing my chores while listening.

Find a Role Model
Following on from the last point, finding a role model can do wonders for your motivation. It could be somebody you know, or it could be someone famous or maybe even a character from your favorite TV show.
If you have a role model, it gives you someone to look up to and aspire to be. This in turn really boosts motivation and keeps you focused on your goals.
Also, I have heard a lot about people having success and being motivated by getting into vision boarding( not sure if that is a phrase they use). Because it is believed that when you put up pictures of your goals, you will be more motivated to go after them. Let me be clear, I have never tried vision boards; I might just have to.
Make Sure You’re Eating Right
Your diet is important in terms of motivation. If you regularly skip meals, or simply eat fast, unhealthy foods, you’re going to struggle to stay motivated.
This is because a poor diet zaps your energy. The less energy you have, the harder it is to stay motivated. So, make sure you’re eating a healthy, balanced diet rich in Vitamin B6 and iron.
You know that your diet can impact your health and wellbeing, but did you know it can also influence your motivation?
A healthy diet can do wonders for your motivation and productivity. So, if you want to boost your motivation, it may be worth starting with the foods that you eat. Here, you’ll discover how diet can impact motivation and the foods you should be focusing on.
How Does Your Diet Impact Motivation?
Your diet can impact motivation in numerous ways. Firstly, if you’re not eating a balanced, healthy diet, your energy levels can suffer. If you’re not energized, you’re going to struggle to stay motivated.
The same can be said if you skip meals. Your mind and body rely upon the food you consume to give them the energy they need to perform correctly. So, if you’re not feeding them energy-rich, healthy foods, you’re going to end up feeling tired, run-down and totally unmotivated.
Which Foods Should You Be Focusing On?
If you’re looking to boost your motivation through your diet, there are certain food groups you’ll want to be focusing on.
B Vitamins are crucial for brain health, energy and motivation. You’ll especially want to focus on foods that contain Vitamin B6. This helps to produce dopamine, a feel-good chemical that links to motivation and creativity. You’ll find foods such as salmon, tofu, spinach, avocado, and chickpeas all contain good levels of Vitamin B6.
You’ll also want to focus on an iron-rich diet. If you’re not getting enough iron, you’re going to feel tired and lethargic. It’s essential for carrying fresh oxygen around the body. So, when your levels are low it’s going to automatically impact your energy and motivation.
Cashews, kidney beans, and seafood are all high in iron. It’s also worth noting that pregnant women, vegans, and women who are menstruating are all at risk of suffering an iron deficiency.
Ensuring You Eat Regular Meals
As mentioned earlier, skipping meals is definitely something you’ll want to avoid if you’re focusing on motivation. It’s crucial you eat regular meals at approximately the same time each day.
This will help to keep energy levels up, ensuring your organs are working correctly. If your meals are all over the place, you’ll definitely notice your motivation fluctuates too.
What you eat does indeed link to how motivated you feel. So, if you want to maintain and boost your motivation levels, it is worth starting with your diet. Without eating a healthy diet, you’ll struggle to put other motivation tips into practice.
Surround Yourself with Positive People
Who we choose to surround ourselves with makes a huge difference in how motivated we remain. For example, if you find you’re mainly communicating with negative people, your motivation is going to dwindle away.
Negative people literally zap the energy right out of you. So, just like a poor diet, they’re going to leave you feeling drained and unmotivated. Positive people, on the other hand, will leave you even more motivated to fulfill your goals.
Focus on Short-Term Goals
Finally, when setting goals, it’s so important to make sure they’re achievable in the short-term. While you’ll still want to have a long-term goal to strive towards, you need to split it down so it’s easier and quicker to achieve.
For example, if you want to lose weight, that would be your long-term goal. However, to stay motivated you’re going to need to see progress. So, you’ll need to set smaller goals such as “lose 10 pounds in one month”. As you meet your smaller goals, it’s going to really boost your motivation.
It’s definitely not easy to maintain motivation, but the tips above will help. Like anything in life, the key is to work at it and do whatever it takes to keep your motivation levels high.
Why Motivation is Key to Self-Improvement
Self-improvement is key to a happy and successful life. However, you’ll find it really difficult to focus on self-improvement if you don’t have the right level of motivation.
This is because self-improvement and motivation typically go hand in hand. It’s difficult to improve one without the other. Here, you’ll discover why motivation is key to self-improvement.
It Encourages Positivity
When you’re motivated, you’ll find your mindset is positive. You’re geared up to work on your goals and improve your life. The more motivated you become, the more changes you’re going to make.
Motivation focuses on the present and the future. It doesn’t dwell in the past or allow room for any negativity. Without it, you could find yourself stuck in a negative spiral which is really hard to get out of.
Keeping You Focused
Staying focused on your goals isn’t always easy. However, motivation helps enormously. It causes you to focus solely on the goal you’re working towards.
Provided you’ve set realistic goals, you’ll stay consistently motivated and therefore more likely to achieve success. It’s up to you to figure out what it is that keeps you motivated, but it can help to have something external to focus on. A picture or a dream map of what you want to achieve, for example, can prove especially effective.
It Encourages More Effort
You’ll notice that when you’re motivated, you put a lot more effort into achieving your goals. Motivation itself comes from working towards something you’re passionate about. So, the more passionate you are about your goals, the more motivated you’ll become and the more effort you’ll put in.
Helping You to Think Outside of the Box
When you’re motivated, it helps you to think outside the box. You’ll be able to come up with new, creative ways to achieve your self-improvement goals. When you’re not motivated, on the other hand, it’s easy to give up when you reach obstacles along the way.
When you’re working on improving yourself, it’s crucial to embrace new ideas and ways of thinking. Motivation can help you to achieve this, making it easier to reach your self-improvement goals.
So, as you can see, motivation is important when it comes to self-improvement. The more motivated you are, the more likely you’ll succeed. However, in order to stay motivated, you need to really want to make the changes you’re working towards. If you’re not 100% committed to improving yourself, you’re going to struggle to keep yourself motivated.
3 Tips to Boost Motivation
Do you struggle to keep yourself motivated? If so, you’re definitely not alone!
It’s easy to find the initial motivation to change something. When you first set out a goal, you’ll find you’re excited and highly motivated to achieve it. However, fast forward a week or two and that motivation slowly starts to dwindle away.
Getting motivated is easy, but maintaining it is not. The good news is, there are ways you can boost your motivation when you feel it starting to dissipate. Below you’ll discover 3 tips to boost motivation right now.
1.) Make a Public Commitment
It’s easy to give up on your goals and lose motivation if you keep them to yourself. However, when you share your goals publicly, you’ll be more motivated to achieve them.
This is because when you involve other people, you don’t want to let them down. You’ll also find they frequently ask you how it’s going, providing consistent motivation to carry on.
So, let people know what you’re working towards. Or, why not partner up with someone who has the same goal as you do? That way, you can motivate each other.
2.) Remember the Purpose Behind the Motivation
When you start working towards your goals, you have what feels like an endless amount of motivation. This is because you’re right in the moment where something has spurred you on to make a change. However, as time goes by, it’s easy to lose sight of why you started in the first place.
So, the key is to remember why you’re working towards your goals. Say you want to lose weight for example. You can either hang up a piece of clothing you’re desperate to get back into, within eyesight. Or, you could pin up a picture that motivates you to carry on with your weight loss goals.
3.) Break your Goals Down
A common motivation mistake is to create goals that are too broad. The longer it takes to reach a goal, the more chance there is of losing motivation along the way.
Instead, you’ll want to be set smaller goals that are easily achievable. As you achieve them, that boosts your motivation to reach the next goal. Nothing feels better than ticking off little goals that you’ve set yourself.
Follow these strategies on how to stay motivated and you will feel more motivated little by little. What you need to remember is that motivation takes work. It’s not something that’s magically going to come to you. You need to force yourself to get motivated using tips like the ones above. The more you work at it, the more it will pay off.
No matter how defeated you feel, stick with these strategies on how to stay motivated and you will be successful. There will be some days when you do not follow these strategies, it is a part of life, just start over the next day. By doing these habits over and over it will become a part of you. So keep going you will get there, never give up.
